I made these last night. They are super delicious! But the glaze didn't come out at all like in your photo...I can't even call them frosted bars, I call them glazed bars. It made a very thin layer of glaze on the top, more like frost than snow, if that helps. Tasty and good and a big hit at work, but not like the photo. Any idea what I did wrong?

Laurie-- the trick with frosting/glaze is to add the liquid a tiny bit at a time until you get the desired consistency that you want. If you want it to be a little thicker, just add a bit more powdered sugar. I decided at the last minute that I wanted them to be thicker and added some more with this batch I photographed. Hope that helps. :) Thanks for visiting & commenting!

I actually tried that and it didn't really make a difference! I was very gradual, and added more sugar, but it never really got thicker. But it's still delicious! Everyone loves it.

Interesting... Adding sugar should definitely make it thicker. I'm out of ideas for why it would have worked out that way. I'm glad you still enjoyed it though.

I love chewy molasses cookies so no doubt I will love these. 'Tis the season for spiced baked goods!

Shannon said...

Yeah, it will. Cloves are essential.
