Yes, I'm sure. I make this recipe all the time, and I use 4oz. If you used an entire block of cream cheese you would end up with a TON of leftover filling that would go to waste.
You could use the leftover cream cheese mixture in strawberry cream tarts: http://sorumblyinmytumbly.blogspot.com/2011/06/strawberry-cream-tarts.html
Or, if you used 8oz of cream cheese, you could swirl it around in some brownie mix and make marbled cheesecake brownies: http://sorumblyinmytumbly.blogspot.com/2010/10/marbled-brownies.html
Deb, I really wouldn't recommend making them ahead of time. Crescent rolls aren't great after they go cold. What you could do though is make the cream cheese mixture and the jam ahead of time and store them in an airtight container in the fridge. And when you're ready to bake, put them all together. Putting them together to bake really only takes about 5 minutes. I hope you enjoy!
Question. I don't have a paddle attachment for my mixer (I only have a lowly hand mixer, still saving for a stand mixer! lol) would I just use the regular beater blades the same way? I was going to ask if the lemon juice would ruin the cream cheese, but clearly not, because other people have tried it to rather good result, from what I have read. :)
Hi I just made these this morning. I did use store bought jam since I don't know how to make home made jams (yet ! I do want to learn) they were very easy and quick to make and delicious ! A little sweet but still YUMMY ! Thanks for sharing !!

ReplyDeleteAre you should it is only 4 oz of cream cheese and not 8? Packages of cream cheese usually come in 8 oz.

ReplyDeleteOh yes, a hand mixer will work perfectly fine. :) And the lemon juice gives the cream cheese a subtle, excellent flavor. Thanks for visiting!
